octubre 18, 2024 · Aegve
  • The Power of Innovation and Cross-industry Collaboration – As sustainability becomes increasingly critical, the business travel sector faces rising pressure to align with global environmental goals.

This document outlines a roadmap for sustainable corporate travel, emphasizing the balance between business efficiency and environmental responsibility

BT4Europe’s 2024 Manifesto

MANIFESTO: Thematic priorities for 2024 – 2029

Business travel is a key function for companies, NGOs and public administration across all European countries and Globally.

About 2 million European employers send 34 million business travellers on 300 million business trips every year. The economic impact is substantial. Europe spends 120 billion Europe on business travel every year.

At BT4Europe, our work for the 2024-2029 EU mandate will be guided by two important themes: sustainability and digital transformation.

Boosting the Economic Impact of Business Travel

Business travel in Europe makes a hugely positive contribution to the European economy, and although the COVID pandemic was a significant set back, the sector is recovering fast.

BT4Europe believes the sector’s economic impact can be further boosted by streamlining the regulatory framework.

The Position Paper, developed by BT4Europe’s Economic Impact Working Group, outlines how the sectors’ economic impact could be boosted, and urges EU regulators to streamline the regulatory framework to encourage sustainable and resilient growth of the sector and accommodate and facilitate future trends.

Digital Transformation

In November 2022 we launched the second BT4Europe position paper. You find a recording of the launch meeting HERE and you can download Dominic Short’s presentation HERE

The Position Paper, developed by BT4Europe’s Digital Transformation Working Group, urges EU regulators to ensure the forthcoming EU initiatives on passenger rights and multimodal digital mobility services (MDMS) to promote the full digital transformation of business travel.

BT4Europe is also urging the EU to make use of the digital transformation to exempt business travel from the bureaucratic A1 cross-border social security form.

Sustainability in Business Travel

In September 2022 we lauched the first BT4Europe position paper. You find a recording of the launch meeting HERE and you can download Angela Lille’s presentation HERE

European businesses demand that their business travel be conducted sustainably.

The position paper highlights the fact that to properly tackle the challenge of greening business travel, in line with the European Green Deal, we first need to fully measure and assess the amount of CO2 emissions caused by business travel, which is currently not possible.

The paper calls for urgent and significant steps to be taken to improve access to streamlined, accurate and comparable data on the CO2 impact of business travel.
